As I Lay Dying s’est associé à Jake Luhrs, chanteur d’August Burns Red, pour HeartSupport. Il s’agit d’une association accompagnant les personnes victimes de maladies mentales à se sentir mieux dans leur quotidien. Cette initiative se déroule pendant le mois de la sensibilisation aux maladies mentales aux États-Unis.
Cette collaboration a également permis la publication d’un mini documentaire intitulé Misery Evolving, retraçant l’histoire de Tim Lambesis, chanteur du groupe As I Lay Dying. Pour rappel, le musicien a été incarcéré après avoir tenté d’assassiner sa compagne par le biais d’un tueur à gages, qui s’est avéré être un policier sous couverture. Après avoir plaidé coupable pour ce chef d’accusation, le principal intéressé a été emprisonné, puis relâché sous liberté conditionnelle deux années plus tard.
L’objectif de ce documentaire est de faire prendre conscience aux personnes victimes de maladies mentales (dépression, pensées suicidaires, violences envers autrui), qu’elles ne sont pas seules, et qu’elles peuvent être accompagnées pour combattre leurs démons.
Il s’agit d’une excellente initiative du groupe et plus particulièrement du chanteur, lui permettant de s’exprimer sur cette période noire de sa vie. Pour rappel, le groupe a dernièrement sorti un nouveau single intitulé Redefined.
In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness month, a time committed to raising awareness and resources for people struggling with all forms of mental illness, we’ve partnered with Heart Support to share a video detailing more of the personal side of our experiences through the years. We wanted to share this part of our story exclusively through an outlet that exists to provide emotional support for anyone dealing with inner turmoil. Whether it’s with addiction, suicidal thoughts, depression, or abuse, we believe in the community they’ve created to connect with those who are in need of recovery or healing.
Through this video, our goal is to share our experiences so that others going through troubled times know there is help around even when feeling desperate and alone. Healing can be a long and indefinite Journey. It is one we are continuously proactive in walking towards personally and together. Our past has shown us there are devastating consequences in leaving emotional and mental turmoil unaddressed. Our hope is to highlight the importance of actively seeking help, directing traffic towards a resource for doing so, and encouraging anyone who knows they need it to take the first step.
