Gary Holt : "Je serai toujours honoré d'avoir fait partie de Slayer"

Il y a quelques jours, Slayer a joué le dernier concert de sa tournée d’adieux. Gary Holt a donc récemment vu son rôle de guitariste dans le groupe prendre fin.

La fin d’une aventure

Gary Holt, qui reste aussi membre de Exodus, a commencé à tourner avec Slayer en 2013, après la mort prématurée du guitariste Jeff Hanneman.

Après quelques heures de réflexion, Gary Holt s’est rendu sur son Instagram pour partager ses pensées sur le temps qu’il a passé dans Slayer :

Maintenant que le dernier spectacle est passé, je tiens à remercier du fond du cœur tous ceux qui m’ont aidé à entrer dans ce monstre qu’est Slayer. La nuit dernière a été un tourbillon d’émotions pour nous quatre. Je veux remercier Tom Arya, Paul Bostaph et Kerry King. Vous allez me manquer bien plus que le simple fait de ne plus partager la scène avec vous.

Beaucoup de choses vont me manquer, les blagues, les pénalités pour nos ratés sur scène, les discussions philosophiques, les blagues sur les pets, les fous rires, les chansons, les films dans le bus, etc… Un maximum d’amour pour vous trois.

Un grand merci à toute l’équipe chez RSE. J’ai toujours eu l’impression de faire partie de la famille. Merci aussi à notre crew, en particulier @sai_lhung_, un de mes meilleurs amis sur cette terre. RESPECT !

Et pour les fans de Slayer, merci de m’avoir fait me sentir le bienvenu, ça a été un voyage Metal spécial et magnifique. Il y en a eu des interventions pour me garder en forme… trois épidurales, sept injections de cortisone, mais chaque seconde de douleur en valait la peine. Je serai toujours honoré d’avoir fait partie de ce groupe.

Cependant, je n’ai jamais voulu tout ça. Jeff aurait dû être là. J’ai juste été fort pour lui. Et Lisa (Holt), ton soutien est tout pour moi. Je t’aime pour toujours. Et à tous mes boys dans Exodus, vous êtes ma famille, et je rentre bientôt vous voir ! Le nouvel album est une tuerie. Rendez-vous en Europe en février !

Slayer ne reviendra vraiment pas sur scène d’après le manager du groupe de Metal. Néanmoins, cela ne signifie pas la fin du groupe.

Now that the final show has come and gone, I just want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me stepping into this monster called Slayer. Last night was a whirlwind of emotions for all four of us. I want to thank @tomarayaofficial , @paulbostaphofficial and KFK, Kerry Fucking King. I will miss so much more than just sharing a stage with you guys. I’ll miss the jokes, the penalty shots for our onstage fuck ups, the philosophical discussions, the fart jokes,the millions of laughs, the songs, the bus ride movies and more shots.
